The continuing intent of the effort is to access and raise the standards for building on Staten Island and to continue a program of achievement and discourse for architecture that previously did not exist. The past decades have seen tremendous development on Staten Island, but this has occurred outside of the evaluation and consideration of a professional organization unconnected to purely financial concerns. The awards committee has established the awards ceremony as a yearly competition that will attract national attention and evaluation. Architects who have built on Staten Island or elsewhere in the world are included in categories of evaluation.
PRIZES
Honor and Merit Awards were available in the following categories: Architecture, Interior Architecture, Projects (either un-built or scheduled to be built), Adaptive Re-Use, Preservation/Restoration and Landscape Architecture. The categories are open to Registered Architects and Registered Landscape Architects only. The Award sculpture was presented to all winners.
THE COMMITTEE
The committee is comprised of the following individuals: David L. Businelli, AIA (Chair), Ciro Asperti, AIA, Timothy Boyland, AIA, Marcus Marino, AIA, Stephen Perrella, AIA, George Daddi, AIA and Steven Borelli, AIA.
A publication was produced documenting the event and transcribing key discussions of the work during the judging process. This journal was made available to AIA Chapter members and attendees of the event.

The committee selected a panel of four judges to represent a broad spectrum of fields relevant to architecture. The judges were:
