THE 2001 AWARDS COMMITTEE
The committee was comprised of the following individuals: David L. Businelli, AIA (Chair), Ciro Asperti, AIA, Timothy Boyland, AIA, Marcus Marino, AIA, Stephen Perrella, AIA.
 
THE JUDGES
The committee selected a panel of four judges who represent a broad spectrum of fields relevant to architecture. The judges are:
• J. Max Bond, FAIA - Partner, Davis Brody Bond, LLP Architects and Planners, New York, NY. Mr. Bond is recognized internationally as one of the United States leading architects and educators. From 1985 to 1991, he served as Dean of the School of Architecture and Environmental Studies at City College of New York. Prior to that he was Chairman of Columbia Universityís Graduate School of Architecture and Planning.
• Thomas Hanrahan - Dean, Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Hanrahan is a partner in Hanrahan/Meyers Architects, New York, NY. He is a widely published and respected architect and architectural theorist.
• Dr. Susan Robinson - President /CEO, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Staten Island, NY. Prior to her current position, Dr. Robinson was Associate Provost at Wagner College for Academic Advisement, Career Development, Admissions, publications and institutional research (1988-1999). Prior to coming to Staten Island, Dr. Robinson was Dean of Admissions at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia (1984-1988).
• Alfred C. Cerullo, III - President/CEO, The Grand Central Partnership, New York, NY. Prior to joining the Partnership, Mr. Cerullo served New York City in a variety of capacities: as a member of the New York City Council representing Staten Island (1990 - 1994), New York City Consumer Affairs Commissioner (1994 - 1996) and, as City Finance Commissioner (1995 - 1999), balancing both agencies simultaneously for six months.
 
The judges convened on Staten Island on April 4, 2001 to evaluate the work collected by the committee. Five projects were selected for recognition. A publication was produced documenting the event and transcribing key discussions of the work during the judging process.
